Liverpool could force RB Leipzig to sell Hwang Hee-chan, who is currently playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers on a year-long loan with an option to buy for £13 million.
According to Mirror, the Reds will have a huge chance to snatch the deal for Hwang Hee-chan by triggering his £20 million release clause in the upcoming January transfer window.
Hwang Hee-chan has made an outstanding start to his life in the Premier League since joining Wolves from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig on loan this past summer. The 25-year-old South Korean striker has scored four goals in six games in the Premier League.
He has so far shown us that he is strong, pretty quick, technically gifted and offensively direct even as the team’s performances were very poor at the beginning of the 2021-22 season.
Wolves new manager Bruno Lage’s side eventually found their rhythm after unleashing Hee-chan with regular game time. He has shown to possess the necessary attributes to be a successful player for giants like Liverpool and Manchester City.
Wolves might or might not be aware of these transfer possibilities or that he is being noticed by other Premier League clubs. But there’s no doubt they should try their best to secure his deal before the January transfer window kicks off in a few months.
The striker’s versatility has recently caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola. He was worth around £13 million, but is presently valued as high as £17m by analysts at the CIES Football Observatory.
RB Leipzig might consider keeping ahold of him. They might also consider bigger deals that offer more compensation if they decide to sell Hwang to a club other than Wolves.
If Liverpool or Manchester City enter the race, his market price might rise and his transfer might go for £20 million or more depending on his performances.
Another thing to consider is that both Liverpool and City will be without star players such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Riyad Mahrez who’ll be on national team duty as the African Cup of Nations tournament is set to start in January.
