Sergio Aguero set to announce retirement
Sergio Aguero making right choice in putting health first
Barcelona released a statement revealing that Sergio Aguero would hold a press conference on Wednesday regarding his future.
According to ESPN, it is expected that the Argentinian striker will announce his retirement given his heart condition.
He was forced off during the Catalan side’s match against Deportivo Alaves. He slumped over and appeared to have chest pain. It was later confirmed he was also having trouble breathing and taken to the hospital for further examination.
Tests then revealed he was suffering from a heart condition. That condition put his career at risk and was given a timetable of three months to see if there was any improvement.
In late November, journalist Gerard Romero posted on his Twitter that Aguero was going to retire. However, the player’s camp dismissed the claim and no statement or press conference was held.

Fast forward to today and it does appear that the former Manchester City striker will be forced to retire and confirm it during his press conference.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta is set to accompany him and the rest of the first team squad will also be in attendance. His former manager, Pep Guardiola, and other Man City executives are expected to be there as well.
This was Aguero’s first season with Barcelona after arriving as a free agent from Man City. He got injured before the start of the season and did not make his debut until October in a match against Valencia.
If and when his retirement is officially confirmed, Aguero will have played five matches for Barcelona, scoring one goal. That goal being in a 2-1 loss against Real Madrid.
He burst onto the scene in Europe with Atletico Madrid before heading off to England where he became one of the best strikers in Man City history.
Despite only featuring five times for Barcelona, his legacy as a player, both in England and Spain, is well intact and he’ll go down as one of the best forwards of his generation.
