Liverpool willing to listen to offers for promising center-back
Liverpool FC are preparing to sell last season’s star defender Nat Phillips for an affordable price tag of £15 million.
According to Caughtoffside, the 24-year-old centre back is set to be sold in the upcoming January transfer window as he is unable to find first team opportunities so far this season.
The Premier League is walking into the busy time of Christmas fixtures. But we must be aware the coronavirus pandemic is hitting the league hard with a number of postponements having already taken place. With that in mind, Liverpool are looking to cash in on their academy product for an affordable price.
The Reds are currently in stunning form and look like they are back to their title challenging form, ready to take the title race down to the wire with Manchester City and Chelsea.
Nat Phillips played a crucial role in helping Liverpool finish third in the 2020/2021 Premier League season. He was a mountain at the back end of last season along with Rhys Williams. Sadly, both of them are nowhere to be seen in the red shirt this season.
The Reds strengthened last year’s injury hit squad by signing Ibrahima Konate to add to their fully recovered senior defenders Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez – who were sidelined much of last season.
Understandably, Phillips is finding it hard to feature in the first team regularly and has only made three appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side in all competitions so far in 2021-22 .
Phillips has reportedly made it clear that he is keen to leave Merseyside to secure more regular game time. The Reds will consider his sale in the upcoming weeks to help him make his move if their £15 million valuation is met.
Newcastle are currently battling in the relegation zone. The addition of Phillips would definitely strengthen their weak defense. On the other hand, West Ham United is reportedly interested in taking him to London.
David Moyes’ team signed Kurt Zouma in the summer but the manager is aware that the Hammers’ defense needs a solid replacement like Phillips as their long-term solution for sidelined defender Angelo Ogbonna.
Should Liverpool sell Nathaniel Phillips in January transfer window?
