Liverpool want to bolster their attack ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations
Liverpool want to sign FC Porto forward Luis Dias in the January transfer window.
According to Columbian journalist Pie Sierra, Liverpool are looking to seal the deal for Porto forward Luis Diaz as soon as possible as they lose both their world class forwards Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in January to AFCON.
Diaz has been in sensational form this season for the Portuguese side. The 24-year-old winger has scored 12 goals from 15 matches in the Primeira Liga.
Despite representing his underrated side in the group of death, the forward managed to shine in the group stage. He scored two goals in the UEFA Champions League.
Undoubtedly, Diaz is one of the best highly-rated wingers at the moment. If the Merseyside giants are hoping to sign him as soon as possible, they will have to pay £80m if they want him in January.
His signing in January would be excellent news for The Reds as it would help fill the goal scoring void left behind by Mane and Salah when the pair depart for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp had a close look at the winger when Liverpool faced Porto twice in the Champions League group stage. Klopp is considering a move for Diaz and Porto are said to be willing to accept a bid lower than his £80 million release clause.
It may sound expensive considering the club owners FSG are very hesitant to break transfer records. But if they are looking toward to the future, Mane and Salah are both 29 years old. Liverpool should be in the process of starting to look at the regeneration of their squad.
Should Liverpool sign him now or wait until next summer transfer to sign him for lesser price?
