Bad luck continues to strike Barcelona and Ansu Fati
Barcelona’s worst nightmare has come true as test results confirmed the injury to Ansu Fati. The young Spanish starlet pulled up lame during extra time of their Copa del Rey match against Athletic Bilbao.
Alarm bells quickly went off as Fati exited the game in tears.
The club ran their tests on him and released a statement where they revealed Fati suffered a “proximal tendon injury in the hamstring of his left leg.”
Barcelona did not specify recovery time only that a treatment option will be decided in the coming days.

Tests carried out on the first team player Ansu Fati on Friday confirmed that he has a proximal tendon injury in the hamstring of his left leg. In the coming days the treatment to be carried out will be decided. pic.twitter.com/cbJApTJ9Vo
According to Diario AS, both the manager and the team doctors are in favor of Fati undergoing surgery. The hope is surgery will finally put an end to the hamstring injury once and for all. The final choice will be left up to Fati. Though if he does opt for surgery, he could be out for three months.

The psychological blow of losing Fati was evident in the game. Barcelona went from the high of Pedri’s equalizer in stoppage time to Fati being forced off.
The reality was worse for Fati who has already had to battle his share of injuries. He came back against Celta Vigo and scored an amazing goal. But he got injured before halftime.
He only returned a couple of weeks ago and Barcelona were playing it safe. More than anything, this is what has to frustrate all parties involved. To take all the necessary precautions only for the same result to happen.
According to Sport, Fati’s brother, Braima, left the stands to go to the dressing room to try comfort Ansu. It has to be difficult for a player like Ansu, who burst onto the scene, to have to deal with these injuries despite doing all the right things.
He’s had his share of injuries this season and when he was playing in the youth teams. He managed to bounce back from those and will have to do the same now.
