Vlahovic signing could have a domino effect in transfer market

Despite garnering interest from Premier League sides such as Arsenal, Dusan Vlahovic is set to remain in Serie A only not at Fiorentina.

According to The Guardian, Juventus are set to sign Vlahovic from Fiorentina for a fee of €75 million to put an end to a saga that began at the start of the season.

Vlahovic rose to prominence recently and has a year-and-a-half left on his contract. With his penchant for scoring, plenty of clubs were lining up to sign him though Fiorentina were hoping the 21-year-old would renew.

Rather than risk Vlahovic running down his contract or having a disgruntled player in their side, Fiorentina acquiesced to the player’s wishes to move somewhere else.

Juventus sign a striker who has scored 17 times in 21 league appearances this year. And Vlahovic has yet to reach the prime of his career.

The Italian giants were in need of a striker following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. While they do have Alvaro Morata, he is not a natural goalscorer despite being a striker. He has good link-up play but misses more than he should.

The Vlahovic deal may start a domino effect across Europe. With Juventus getting their man, this leaves the aforementioned Morata in a bit of limbo and opens up the possibility of the Spanish star joining Barcelona.

He was linked with Barcelona almost as soon as the window opened. But Juventus were not willing to let him leave until they found a replacement. Now they have one.

However, Barcelona need to sell players to free up space in their wage bill and still need to come to an agreement with Atletico Madrid who are still Morata’s parent club.

With regards to Fiorentina, they are wasting no time in finding a replacement themselves as they are reportedly set to make a bid for Basel’s Brazilian striker, Arthur Cabral.

Vlahovic was going to be one of the most sought-after talents come the end of the season. Juventus stepped to the head of the line and secured his services six months early. With him out of the picture, the summer attention is fully back on Erling Haaland.
