Barcelona set to acquire Adama Traore on loan
The former Barcelona youth player could be presented on Monday
Barcelona’s need for a winger has led them to England as the club is on the verge of signing Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Adama Traore.
According to Sport, there is a principle of agreement in place that would see the 26-year-old join his former club on a six-month loan. Once the loan is over, the plan is to sign Traore to a four-year deal in June.
There were conflicting reports about whether or not an option to buy would be included but it does appear to be the case.

Given the injury to Ansu Fati, Barcelona felt the need to reinforce the attack. Xavi wanted to sign Alvaro Morata but with that deal looking all but impossible, they turned their attention to Traore.
Traore had been linked with a move to Tottenham but put the move on hold once it became apparent that the Catalans’ interest in him was genuine. There was contact between the two sides in early December with Traore open to a move.
It is important to note that Traore is not a striker, which is the position the club was looking to reinforce hence the interest in Morata. Xavi may simply decide to use Luuk de Jong as his striker or use Ferran Torres as a false ‘9.’
In any case, Traore is likely to feature as a winger and it is an area they need to strengthen as Fati is out long term and with Ousmane Dembélé’s situation not yet resolved.
The price of the purchase option ranges from €20-35 million but for Barcelona, the important thing is they will not have to pay it unless they want to. Traore has 18 months left on his current deal and would end up returning to Wolves should Barcelona decline to sign him permanently.
With Torres and now Traore, the club has signed two Spanish internationals. Torres has been thrust into the team since arrival and it will likely be the case with Traore as well. As far as wingers go, Xavi has been relying on Barça players such as Abde and Ferran Jutgla.
The transfer window is set to close on Monday and Barcelona may not yet be done. The club is still on the lookout for a new left-back.
