Barcelona’s plan B for Erling Haaland
Barcelona interested in Isak as possible alternative to Haaland
The priority for Barcelona come the summer transfer window is Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. The Catalan side know it won’t be an easy negotiation given the number of other teams interested in the Norwegian as well as how much he’s going to cost.
Joan Laporta is desperate to add a world class talent to a rebuilding side and will do what it takes to sign him.
But the club is aware they need to have other options in case Haaland decides to sign somewhere else.
Therefore, Barcelona has looked within LaLiga and has reportedly found another option at striker.
According to Sport, Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak is the player Barcelona are going to chase should they fail in their attempt of signing Haaland.
The Swedish striker has impressed over his last few seasons with La Real and carried his performances over with the national team. However, trying to lure him away might prove almost as complicated.
Haaland’s release clause at Dortmund is rumored to be €75 million. The release clause for Isak is set even higher at €80 million.
However, Barcelona believe, should they end making an offer, they can reach an agreement with Real Sociedad on a lower transfer fee.
Isak is likely to be one of the more sought-after strikers after Haaland. He’s already been linked to other teams. But if Barcelona come knocking, he is prepared to stall any other offer he might have and prioritize the Catalan side.
Despite Isak’s release clause being higher than Haaland’s, the operation could end up being less considering the club won’t have to pay such high commissions to his agent or other representatives. This would not be the case with Mino Raiola and Haaland’s father.
