Bayern Munich wrap up Matchday 24 in Bundesliga with tight win

Bayern Munich grabbed a late winner on Saturday against Eintracht Frankfurt thanks to Leroy Sane. Sane didn’t appear in the Bayern starting 11, coming on as sub in the 67th minute.

Four minutes later, Sane made a super run and finished off with a lovely touch to net his seventh goal in the Bundesliga campaign. The victory was Bayern’s 19th of the season giving them a comfortable lead atop the table. For Frankfurt, the loss dropped the club further away from the elusive top four Champions League spot, now sitting 9 points back.

Bayer Leverkusen earned a key 3 points on Saturday at home to Arminia Bielefeld, winning 3-0. Leverkusen was rewarded with a masterful performance by the 22-year-old French international Moussa Diaby. The man of the match, Diaby scored in the 57th and 81st minute on only three shots all game. In 82 minutes of work, Diaby was also successful with his passing game, clipping at a 85% success rate. Leverkusen have been in great form since the Christmas break with only one defeat in their last seven games going 5-1-1 in that stretch.

Borussia Dortmund looked to keep pace and not fall further behind the league leaders, taking on relegation threatened Augsburg on Sunday. Thorgan Hazard used his magical touch to open the scoring for Dortmund in the 35th minute. Dortmund dominated possession for the majority of the game but it didn’t translate to more goals.

Unfortunately for Dortmund, in the 78th, Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee netted his first Bundesliga goal of the season for Augsburg. It was another game where Dortmund needed all 3 points but failed to pocket them against another inferior opponent.
