Valencia immediately responds to claim via social media

With the season winding down, some clubs are already planning for next season, meaning an inundation of transfer rumors.

Such is the case with Barcelona and Valencia as Diario AS claimed the Catalan side had reached an agreement with Los Che for midfielder Carlos Soler. The supposed agreement would have seen Soler head to the Camp Nou for a €20 million fee.

Someone must have jumped the gun early as Valencia were quick to deny any such agreement was reached.

In their statement, Valencia also added, “The club are currently in an open negotiation process with the player and his agents to extend his contract with Valencia CF.”

What is true is Soler’s contract expires in 2023 meaning there are teams monitoring his situation.

While Valencia may indeed want to extend his stay, they’re in a weird situation with owner Peter Lim who has not been shy about getting rid of players that he deems expensive, much to the dismay of the club’s supporters.

As for Barcelona, any potential deal is contingent on the future of Frenkie de Jong. Despite the player wanting to stay and manager Xavi Hernandez counting on him, they will listen to offers and may sell him if a good one comes their way. At the moment, Manchester United have been linked with a move given the impending arrival of his former manager Erik ten Hag.

To shut down the rumor even further, it’s important to remember Barcelona still need to decrease their wage bill. A number of players need to leave before they can spend money on bringing in other players.

The 25-year-old would be a welcome addition to the Barça midfield. But Valencia are not going to let him go so easily.
