Cristiano Ronaldo has been a record-breaking machine in his professional career. Not only does he have five Ballon d’Or trophies and won nearly every major title in his career, but Ronaldo has set so many records over the course of his career.

He currently holds the record for most goals scored in international football history, as well as being the highest-scorer in UEFA Champions League history. Cristiano is also Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer with 450 goals! Despite having so many astonishing individual records, there are quite a few particular ones Ronaldo can still break. Here we look at four of the best ones.

Ronaldo to end with most Man United hat-tricks?

Ronaldo has arguably been Man United’s best player in a difficult season back at Old Trafford. He’s scored 24 goals in all competitions, including 18 in the Premier League. Out of that 18, six have come in just two games. Indeed, Cristiano has scored two hat-tricks for United – against Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur – to guide them to big wins in recent months. He also scored three times in a game for United back in 2008.

However, he is still quite far off the record for most hat-tricks scored by a player for United. That is currently held by his ex-teammate Wayne Rooney, who scored eight hat-tricks for the Red Devils during his period. That means Ronaldo has to score five more hat-tricks for United to set this record. Seeing his heroics so far in 2022, it doesn’t seem impossible for him to do so before the end of next season.

Highest-capped player in international football history

Ronaldo has already written his name into the international football history books by becoming the highest goal-scorer recorded by FIFA in international games. He did so last year, surpassing the record set by Ali Daei. He currently has 115 international goals to his name, more than any other player in history.

However, Ronaldo has the chance to set yet another international record. He has made 186 appearances for Portugal to date. Ronaldo is closing in on the record for most international caps received by a player in history. That is currently held by Malaysia legend Soh Chin Ann, who made 219 appearances for his country. If Cristiano decides to prolong his international career for a few more years, it’s quite possible for him to make the 34 appearances needed to break this record.

Can Cristiano reach most goals in a European season?

Ronaldo has earned the name of “Mr. Champions League” for his amazing work in the competition over the years. He’s won the Champions League five times in his career, once with United and four times with Real Madrid.

Cristiano also set the record for most goals scored in a single Champions League campaign in the 2017/18 season, when he scored 17 goals in that edition! Remarkably, that still isn’t the most scored in a single season of a European competition. That record is held by Radamel Falcao, who scored 18 goals for Atletico Madrid in the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League season.

Ronaldo will probably have to play in Europe’s second-tier competition next season with United. Instead of being dismayed, he can actually look to set this record by guiding United to the title.

If the Red Devils reach the final, Cristiano can have as many as 13 games to score 18+ goals and make that record his own. Knowing his heroics in European competitions, you wouldn’t bet against him breaking this record as well.

Oldest to score Premier League hat-trick

Speaking of hat-tricks, Ronaldo became Man United’s oldest player ever to score a hat-trick in a Premier League game earlier this season. However, he missed out on the record of being the oldest player in Premier League history to do so.

That is currently held by Man United legend Teddy Sheringham, who scored a hat-trick at the age of 37 years and 146 days. Ronaldo has to wait a few months before being eligible to do that.

But after seeing him score multiple hat-tricks for United this season, it’s highly possible that he’ll score more hat-tricks in the Premier League next season and become the oldest to ever score a PL hat-trick.
