Tottenham set to sign Brazilian Richarlison
The pressure to score goals for Harry Kane and Son Heung-min at Tottenham may soon be eased as Spurs inches closer to a deal for Everton striker Richarlison.
According to ESPN, Tottenham is set to pay £60 million pounds for the Brazilian who would sign a five-year deal. Everton would receive a fixed fee of £50 million with £10 million in add-ons. An official agreement is expected to be reached within the next 48 hours, if not sooner.
Richarlison would provide a quality back-up for Harry Kane if the plan is for Richarlison to start on the bench. If the plan is for him to be a starter, Tottenham could have one of the more potent attacks in the Premier League with Richarlison accompanying Kane and Son.
During his time with Everton, Richarlison has developed a reputation of making a meal when it comes to challenges. A frustrating tactic when playing against him but one that is likely to go down better when he’s on your team.
The 24-year-old played 30 games in the Premier League, scoring 10 games and provided five assists. He played three games in the FA Cup where he registered one goal.
Tottenham finished fourth in the Premier League which means they will be playing Champions League football next season. Along with the domestic league as well as the aforementioned FA Cup and League Cup, their schedule is going to be hectic.
Adding a player the quality of Richarlison should give manager Antonio Conte some options going forward. His signing is also a positive sign Spurs are willing to spend to give Conte the side he wants. Conte tends to get prickly when he feels he isn’t backed by ownership.
So far it appears he has been.
Richarlison may not be their last move either as they are also close to reaching a deal with Barcelona over the loan of center-back Clement Lenglet.
