Trevoh Chalobah set to leave Blues for Inter Milan or West Ham

The Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella reports that Trevoh Chalobah has decided to leave Chelsea. The club recently agreed to sign a new defender, Axel Disasi from Monaco, for £38.6 million. Trevor believes he won’t receive enough game time in the upcoming season.

Chalobah got the opportunity to play for the Blues under Mauricio Pochettino during the recently concluded pre-season games. However, he is well aware of the competition he faces, with players like Thiago Silva, Benoit Badiashile and Levi Colwill favored ahead of him. Unfortunately, the arrival of the new signing doesn’t improve his situation.

Limited playing time will also reduce his chances of getting noticed during the shortlisting for the England squad in the upcoming Euro 2024 in Germany.

Chelsea has set an asking price of £45 million for Chalobah. Both Inter Milan and West Ham have shown interest in signing the defender, looking to strengthen their squads after losing Andre Onana and Declan Rice, respectively. Despite his efforts to impress Pochettino in the pre-season games, it seems Chalobah’s plans to stay with the Blues may not work out as he had hoped.

Decision to bring Disasi to the Bridge

The club had shown interest in signing Disasi from Monaco to replace Wesley Fofana, who will be out for a significant amount of time due to a recent ACL injury.

Pochettino had also confirmed the need to sign a right-center back after the closing game of the summer series last night, where Chelsea won 2-0 against Fulham, which in turn made them the first ever PL Summer Series winners.

This deal would be Chelsea’s second consecutive transfer from Monaco, with the first being Badiashile. It shouldn’t come as a surprise since Monaco has been developing young talent to sell them for substantial fees.
