Chelsea present a formal bid for Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez

After parting ways with Edouard Mendy, who was the first-choice goalkeeper until Kepa reclaimed his spot last season, Mauricio Pochettino now seems unhappy with Kepa’s distribution. As a result, he has asked Chelsea’s goalkeeper coaches to work on improving it while the club is looking for a replacement.

However, they are mindful not to overspend as their main focus is on bolstering the midfield. Chelsea had shown interest in Manchester United’s Andre Onana before he joined the Premier League side, but decided against pursuing a deal due to pricing issues. As of now, their priority is to sign a goalkeeper with Premier League experience, with Emi Martinez and Robert Sanchez being among the considered options.

Ongoing negotiations with Brighton – Caicedo and Sanchez

The Blues are currently engaged in an ongoing negotiation with Brighton for Moises Caicedo and have had their recent bid rejected by the club. However, they are still awaiting a response for the bid they presented for Sanchez.

Brighton is keen on having Sanchez leave this summer after an alleged fallout with manager Roberto De Zerbi. The player has already accepted Chelsea as his destination, and negotiations are still ongoing, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

Sanchez is strongly supported by Ben Roberts, who joined Chelsea as a goalkeeper’s coach under Graham Potter and currently holds a management role in goalkeeping for the Blues.

Plans for Gabriel Slonina

The young American player, who played for the Chelsea Under-21s and also made his first appearance for the senior team in the pre-season game against Fulham, is expected to be loaned out for the upcoming season. There’s a tentative agreement with Belgian club KAS Eupen, which seems to be closing in soon, but Chelsea is still open to exploring other options.
