Casadei is in the final stages of moving out on another loan to the Championship
Cesare Casadei, a 20-year-old midfielder, joined Chelsea from Inter Milan for a fee of £15 million last season. He was subsequently loaned to Championship side Reading. Casadei also made a few appearances for the senior team during the preseason games held in the US, in addition to featuring for the U-21 team.
He played a vital role for the Italian national team, making seven appearances at the U-21 World Cup. His exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Tournament award, especially after his team reached the finals.
The Blues are focusing on developing young talents by loaning them out for a season to ensure they get ample playing time. Notable examples include Lewis Hall’s loan to Crystal Palace and Gabriel Slonina’s loan to KAS Eupen.
After being relegated to the Championship, Leicester City has displayed interest in the young player. However, they encountered unexpected competition from Genoa, a newly promoted Serie A side, who is eager to secure the Italian player ‘s return to the league for a loan spell. Nevertheless, as per the latest report by Fabrizio Romano, it appears that Casadei is set to join the Championship and play under Enzo Maresca for the upcoming season.
Choosing Leicester City
Aside from the guaranteed playing time, the transfer to Leicester holds additional benefits. The club is strongly positioned as a favorite for promotion from the Championship, promising a valuable season in the English league.
However, opting to go to Genoa could have added more challenges. Despite their recent promotion, they’ve been out of the top league for just a year. Additionally, there’s the task of competing against ‘top’ teams, which could aid in honing his talent.
