Jadon Sancho wasn’t included in the Manchester United squad that went on to lose 3-1 to Arsenal on Sunday.

Following the loss, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was asked about Sancho’s exclusion.

“On his performance on training we didn’t select him,” Ten Hag said. “You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United. You can make choices in the front line, so in this game he wasn’t selected.

It didn’t take long for Sancho to offer a reply.

“Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week,” he posted on X . “I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair.”

Sancho’s time at Manchester United hasn’t gone as expected since making a big-money move from Borussia Dortmund a few season ago. He doesn’t look anywhere near the player he was in Germany and has apparently lost the confidence of the manager.

According to The Guardian, Manchester United have backed Ten Hag and are considering disciplinary action against Sancho for his comments.

This wouldn’t be the first time Ten Hag has stood firm against one of his players. He benched Cristiano Ronaldo which ultimately led to his departure.

Since arriving at Manchester United, Ten Hag has been clear on what he expects from his players and the type of manager he is. He isn’t afraid of benching star players and Sancho is the latest to find that out.

Sancho has time to turn things around but issuing a statement essentially calling your manager a liar isn’t the way to go about it considering he seems to be low on the depth chart. With the international break, it’ll be a couple of weeks before we see whether or not he is included in Manchester United matchday list.
