Leonardo Bonucci set to take legal action against Juventus over training conditions, as reported by Fabrizio Romano
Bonucci has spent the majority of his senior football career at Juventus and would arguably be one of the big names at the club. However, as he is in his final year of his contract, the club has not included him as part of their plans, which is further supported by his not being assigned a squad number for the season. He has also been made to train away from the main squad.
The situation arose last month when the player expressed his wishes to stay at the club, despite Juventus informing him he would not be part of the club’s plans for the season. With speculations of legal action arising, Juventus released a statement saying they would be ready to defend their case if necessary and reassured that all registered players under their club are fully guaranteed their rights provided by the Collective Agreement.
Bonucci’s lawyers claim that the player’s reasons for taking action are simply to receive compensation for the lack of training he has received to maintain his fitness and also because he has suffered ‘image and professional damage.’
They have also made it clear that Bonucci’s case is not meant to be a personal agenda; instead, it is a matter of ‘legitimate principle.’ They have even compared his situation with other players who have faced similar issues but were unable to fight back.
It has also been confirmed in the report by Fabrizio Romano that Bonucci will be donating all the proceeds to the Neuroland charity, which supports families of children hospitalized in Turin. He will also be making donations to Live Onlus, an organization that donates defibrillators allocated to sports clubs and institutions. These donations will come from the revenue generated from auctions of equipment used by professional athletes.
