Raspadori contributes mightily to Napoli win
Napoli and Italy attacker Giacomo Raspadori impressed in Napoli’s 3-1 over Hellas Verona in Serie A this past weekend as the champs got back to winning ways.
The win might serve as a confidence boost after The Blues fell to Fiorentina via an identical score line on the matchday prior. The Serie A holders have had a very stop-start sort of season, currently sitting fifth in the table.
One of the architects of Napoli’s win was a certain Giacomo Raspadori, one of the most impressive performers on the pitch, particularly in the first half.
Much of Raspadori’s joy came from his wide play, where he often did his best to find his teammates as they flooded the opposition box. A sumptuous cross into Matteo Politano’s path saw the Italians combine for what was an all important Napoli goal, and not more than a few minutes later Raspadori played a wonderful through ball to Jens Cajuste who should have buried it for another Napoli goal.
Raspadori has had a limited amount of minutes this season, particularly because of how prolific Victor Osimhen has been for the Partenopei. The 23-year-old forward has 1 goal and 2 assists in 9 appearances, over the course of the limited amount of minutes, but his performance against Verona indicates that he is capable of playing a bigger role for his side than he has until this point of the season.
Raspadori’s performance will be something the Italy international will look to build on in Napoli’s coming games, as there are quite a few crucial fixtures ahead that will prove to be great opportunities for the player to step up his game.
Napoli face Union Berlin in the Champions League this week, and then have AC Milan in Serie A a few days later. Raspadori could be one of the deciders in these games should he emulate his performance from the weekend.
