Amazingly, in their European history, Aberdeen have faced clubs from 41 different countries, but this will be their first meeting with French opposition.
Strasbourg have won three of their previous four encounters with Scottish clubs, both in the UEFA Cup, knocking out Hibs in 1978 and then Rangers 19 years later.
Aberdeen vs Strasbourg preview
Can Aberdeen end their long wait for a European victory? The Dons were smashed by Steaua București in the Europa League play-offs in August, and have collected just two point from four Conference League matches since dropping into this competition. Jimmy Thelin's team were unlucky to lose 3-2 to Shakhtar Donetsk in their opener, before being ignominiously obliterated 6-0 by AEK Athens on the road. Since, the Reds have battled to draws with both AEK Larnaca and Noah, disappointingly only managing a 1-1 in the latter after taking the lead through Kevin Nisbet.

Meantime, domestically, after yielding just one point from their first six Premiership fixtures, Aberdeen have really started to find form. On Saturday, Adil Aouchiche's double saw the Dons beat Dundee 3-1 at Dens, extending their unbeaten streak to six games, winning six out of nine since the start of October. This though will be Aberdeen's toughest game of the season, so can they claim a first European victory of the campaign in, what would be, a seismic shock?
As for Strasbourg, are they actually the favourites to win this competition? Last time out, les Bleu et Blanc fought back from a goal down to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Stade de la Meinau; Emmanuel Emegha equalising before Samir El Mourabet turned home the winner 17 minutes from time. This takes their points tally up to ten, enjoying road wins over Slovan Bratislava and BK Häcken, also held to a 1-1 draw when Jagiellonia Białystok visited the Alsace, leaving them second in the standings.

In Ligue 1 however, Liam Rosenior's side were seemingly in the title race not so long ago, but their form has endured a major downturn recently. On Saturday, Strasbourg were beaten 1-0 by Toulouse, their third Ligue 1 defeat on the spin, losing each of the last four on the road. This has seen les Bleu et Blanc drop down to eighth, having been joint-top when they held PSG to a 3-3 draw at the Parc des Princes as recently as 17 October. Here though, they should cruise to victory at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen team news
Jimmy Thelin is unlikely to change too much, given Aberdeen's impressive form, although Kevin Nisbet's goal off the bench at Dens could see him displace Marko Lazetić in attack.

Captain Graeme Shinnie had not been a regular starter of late, with Dante Polvara and Adil Aouchiche forming an impressive midfield partnership.
Aberdeen predicted lineup vs Strasbourg: (3-4-2-1): Mitov; Milne, Knoester, Devlin; Jensen, Polvara, Aouchiche, Keskinen; Karlsson, Armstrong, Nisbet.
Aberdeen player to watch vs Strasbourg
The arrival of Scotland international Stuart Armstrong in the summer was viewed as a major coup, but he has scored just once for the club, this against Kilmarnock in October, so can he add to his tally?
Strasbourg team news
A huge number of Liam Rosenior's squad have connections to Chelsea, also owned by BlueCo.
Goalkeeper Mike Penders, centre-back Mamadou Sarr and teenaged winger Kendry Páez are all on loan from the Premier League side.

Meantime, Ben Chilwell, Mathis Amougou and Diego Moreira have been on Chelsea's books in the past, while Julio Enciso and Emanuel Emegha have already agreed to move to West London.
Strasbourg predicted lineup vs Aberdeen: (3-4-2-1): Penders; Omobamidele, Sarr, Doué; Moreira, El Mourabet, Doukouré, Chilwell; Nanasi, Enciso, Emegha.
Strasbourg player to watch vs Aberdeen
Captain Emanuel Emegha is Strasbourg's talisman, scoring seven times so far this season, including against Crystal Palace a fortnight ago, so will he add to his tally in the Granite City?
Aberdeen vs Strasbourg prediction
We can only foresee one outcome at Pittodrie on Thursday and that is a comfortable Strasbourg victory, one that would all but eliminate Aberdeen from the competition: Aberdeen 0-3 Strasbourg.
