One of the longest negotiations in recent years involving European soccer is close to a positive outcome for Arsenal. After having settled all the personal details with the representatives of Viktor Gyokeres' career, everything indicates that the Gunners are now finally settled definitively with Sporting.

The latest reports indicate that Arsenal and Sporting have reached an almost definitive agreement for Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres. The initial figure is €63.5 million (~£55 million), with add-ons that could bring the total to €80 million. In other words, Gyökeres' agent has waived the typical 10% commission, which means that Sporting will receive a larger share of the transfer fee.

It's worth remembering that Gyökeres would have agreed to a five-year contract, this being a decisive move in the negotiation as he has tried to distance himself from Sporting in recent days. The 27-year-old striker refused to return to Sporting's pre-season training in protest, visibly pushing for the transfer.

Sporting's president has confirmed that Gyökeres could face disciplinary measures, including fines, for missing training sessions. But it seems that the Swede no longer cares about any disciplinary decision being applied by the Portuguese club, understanding that his time at the Portuguese club is over.

All the conversation about of a move to Arsenal could end up making some fans forget just how big an impact the transfer will have in the Premier League. Gyökeres was a spectacular performer for Sporting, scoring 54 goals in 52 games last season. His style of play has earned him comparisons with elite strikers such as Haaland, Kane and Lewandowski.

This signing marks Arsenal's fourth deal of the summer, having already secured players such as Zubimendi, Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga, with winger Noni Madueke also close to joining With that, Mikel Arteta is very close to having an extremely well-strengthened squad to be the main team that will measure forces against Liverpool in the Premier League in 2025/26.
