Arsenal have sent out a strong message to their competitors in recent days that they are far from satisfied with their transfers for the current Premier League season after signing Viktor Gyokeres, a goalscorer who has already scored twice. As a result, the Gunners have reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Piero Hincapie, with a view to strengthening their defensive system against their main opponents this season. Arsenal and the Premier League, leaving Bayer Leverkusen totally at risk.

The latest reports indicate that this is a season-long loan deal with an option to buy for a total of €52 million, plus a 10% termination clause, with personal terms in place to guarantee a definitive transfer next summer with a five-year contract. In other words, the 23-year-old Ecuadorian arrives to officially become the newest name in Arsenal's defense.

All indications are that Hincapie will leave Germany this weekend to undergo medical tests and finally complete his move to Arsenal after signing a contract this Sunday. Hincapie's arrival will allow fellow left-back Jakub Kiwior to leave the Gunners and join Porto in a guaranteed €25 million transfer, which could rise to €27 million.

Bayer Leverkusen has suffered another big loss in the squad

The defender's departure came as a surprise in Germany, considering that a contract renewal was signed in December last year, which theoretically guaranteed the Ecuadorian's presence until June 2029. However, the player has shown a desire to leave the Bundesliga for the Premier League.

Hincapie would have made his preference clear if Arsenal were after more reinforcements before the close of the transfer window. Finally, efforts are being made to reduce the 60 million euro contract termination fee to a "reality more consistent" with the current market, even if the signing is guaranteed, leaving the Leverkusen even more fragile.
