One of the best transfers of the current Premier League season is finally very close to being completed with a very happy ending for Arsenal fans. According to the latest information from Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have reached an agreement with Crystal Palace FC for the signing of Eberechi Eze. Hours later, an agreement was reached with the striker's representatives.
The value of the deal is close to the expired termination clause of £68 million, which is equivalent to what Tottenham were willing to pay, and personal terms have already been agreed. In other words, even though the player's representatives have reached a full agreement, Spurs will not be relying on the powerful Crystal Palace FC striker.
Last-minute reports also indicate that the 27-year-old is expected to play for Crystal Palace against Fredrikstad in the Conference League play-off this Thursday. However, this will be his official farewell to the club before traveling to carry out medical tests with the north London club. The whole operation was carried out by Arsenal's sporting director Andrea Berta and vice-president Tim Lewis.
Arsenal sign another player for the season
With this, Eze is just a few hours away from becoming Arsenal's seventh signing in a busy first summer under the current manager Andrea Berta, since his arrival from Atlético Madrid in place of Brazilian Edu Gaspar. The other signings were Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cristhian Mosquera, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke and top scorer Viktor Gyokeres.
Eze arrived at Palace from QPR in the summer of 2020, in a deal worth around £17 million, and made 169 appearances for the south London club, scoring 40 goals. The attacking midfielder earned 12 caps for the English team and attracted a lot of attention from the Gunners, who were urgently looking for reinforcements for their attacking sector.
