Arsenal have won each of their last six home games against Nottingham Forest, their longes-ever streak in this fixture, scoring 19 goals across these matches, conceding only two.
Overall, Forest are without a win in 14 visits to North London, their most-recent victory coming at Highbury in March 1989, just 76 days before Michael Thomas won the Gunners the league at Anfield.
Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest preview
After suffering their first set back of the season prior to the international break, it is imperative that Arsenal get back to winning ways here. A fortnight ago, Mikel Arteta went to Anfield for a draw and, well, that strategy ultimately backfired. The heavyweight clash between last season's top two on Merseyside was, in truth, a pretty drab, uneventful affair, that is until Dominik Szoboszlai smashed a free-kick in off the post with just seven minutes to play, snatching the points for Liverpool. Arteta clearly wanted to remain compact and keep it tight for the first hour or so, but Arsenal were then unable to then relinquish the handbrake and increase the intensity to push for the win thereafter.
Before this, the Gunners had made an impressive start to the campaign, overcoming Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford, before annihilating Leeds 5-0 at home; Jurriën Timber and Viktor Gyökeres both bagging braces in that one. Coming up in September, Arsenal host Manchester City next Sunday, before traveling to Newcastle a week later, making this a crucial fortnight so early on in the season, hence why three points from this Saturday lunchtime fixture are a must for Arteta's team.

As for Nottingham Forest, fair to say they were in the news during the international break. On Monday it was announced that Nuno Espírito Santo had been sacked as manager, despite leading the Tricky Trees back into European competition for the first time in three decades, by virtue of last season's seventh place finish. The Garibaldi Reds also have four points on the board after three Premier League fixtures, first demolishing Brentford 3-1 and then held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace. Last time out though, Forest endured an almighty collapse at home to West Ham, beaten 3-0 by the then-pointless Hammers, all the goals coming in the final six minutes at the City Ground.
So, after publicly falling out with Nuno, this gave Evangelos Marinakis the perfect opportunity to bring in his man, who just so happens to be Ange Postecoglou. The Aussie led Spurs to Europa League glory, as 17th place, last season, and is back in the Premier League, with Marinakis clearly hoping he can repeat his European escapade. The stylistic shift from a Nuno team to a Postecoglou side could hardly be more stark, making this fixture even more fascinating than it would've otherwise been.

Arsenal team news
Arsenal are without several key players, given that William Saliba, Benjamin White, Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz are all sidelined, but they do now have the squad depth to cope with such absences.

Saliba hobbled off inside three minutes at Anfield, replaced by Cristhian Mosquera, who looked largely impressive and assured, which is encouraging. Meantime, Martin Ødegaard was only fit enough to come on as a substitute against Liverpool, but started and scored during Norway's 11-1, no, that isn't a typo, demolition of Moldova in Oslo on Tuesday, so is expected to start this one too.
Elsewhere during the break, both Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli started Brazil's first game, but were unused substitutes in El Alto, a huge 4150 meters above sea level, in mid-week, which is helpful.
Mikel Merino scored a hat-trick against Türkiye last Sunday, but is set to be on the bench here, with those in attendance eager to see Eberechi Eze's full-Arsenal debut, after he came off the bench on Merseyside. Lastly, deadline day signing Piero Hincapié could also make his debut at some stage.
Arsenal predicted lineup vs Nottingham Forest: (4-3-3): Raya, Timber, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori; Zubimendi, Rice, Ødegaard; Madueke, Eze, Gyökeres.
Arsenal player to watch vs Nottingham Forest
Noni Madueke scored his first goal for England against Serbia at the Marakana on Tuesday, so can he open his Arsenal account here, once again deputising for Saka on the right-wing?
Nottingham Forest team news
Given that this is Ange Postecoglou's first match in charge, who knows what to expect?

Full-back Ola Aina is sidelined due to a hamstring injured suffered during Nigeria's 1-1 draw with South Africa in Bloemfontein on Tuesday. Meantime, Nicolò Savona, John Victor, Cuiabano and Dilane Bakwa all joined in the final few days of the transfer window, so will any debut here? Surprise deadline day signing Oleksandr Zinchenko is ineligible to do so against his parent club.
Meantime, Douglas Luiz is set to make his first Forest appearance, replacing Ibrahim Sangaré at the base of midfield, while Hale End graduate Omari Hutchinson will feature against his former club.
Nottingham Forest predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (4-3-3): Sels; Savona, Murillo, Milenković, Williams; Douglas Luiz, Anderson, Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood.

Chris Wood scored his 45th goal for World Cup-bound New Zealand against Australia in Auckland on Tuesday. He has previously netted only once in 14 previous encounters with Arsenal.
