Patri Guijarro scored a brace with Alexia Putellas putting the cherry on top as Barcelona Femeni continued their dominance over Real Madrid Femenino in a 4-0 thrashing.

The Barcelona midfielder opened the score only four minutes into the match as Guijarro stretched to poke the ball in to the net after a flick from Putellas off a corner.

It took longer than what Pere Romeu and his players would have liked to get the second.

But it wasn't for a lack of trying.

Ewa Pajor could have opened her account in El Clasico but the former Wolfsburg striker whiffed in front of goal after Aitana Bonmati laid the ball off.

Guijarro eventually doubled Barcelona's lead in the 22nd minute. The Catalan side were continuously threating the Real Madrid goal even before then. Bonmati's shot inside the box was blocked by the Madrid defender. In an attempt to clear, the ball landed to Guijarro who unleashed a powerful low strike from outside the box toward the far corner, beating Misa Rodriguez.

Barcelona didn't let up and were constantly on the attack, keeping the ball and recovering quickly when losing it. Claudia Pina scored the Barcelona third as Bonmati sending a ball over the top to Caroline Graham Hansen. Graham Hansen then cut back to Pina whose shot took a deflection before landing in the back of the net.

Barcelona went in to the break leading by three but with the sensation they should have had at least two more to their tally.

To their credit, Real Madrid came out strong in the second half all things considered. They tried to threaten the Barcelona goal but only really came close either through mistakes from the Barcelona players or a bit of spark from Linda Caicedo.

Barcelona were wasteful in front of goal on the few opportunities they created in the second half. Kika Nazareth had an opportunity to score Barcelona's fourth when Bonmati laid the ball off after a bad giveaway from Madrid in their box. But the Portuguese midfielder took too much time on the ball, letting the chance slide.

When it looked like Barcelona were going to have to settle for only three, Bonmati recovered the ball in the Madrid half, laying the ball off once again to Nazareth. Nazareth then did the same as she saw Putellas on her left. Putellas then calmly chipped the ball to put the icing on Barcelona's cake and cap off the win with perhaps the best goal of the night.

The goal was significant in more ways than one. Not only did it mean another win over Real Madrid but it saw Putellas move ahead of Luis Suarez for third place as Barcelona's third all-time scorer.

Barcelona have yet to lose to Real Madrid and now move eight points ahead of Madrid who have a game in hand. The Catalans will have some time to savor the win before they shift their attention midweek in the Champions League, traveling to Austria to take on St. Pölten.
