Lamine Yamal ended his participation in the 2024/25 season with a spectacular level of performance and was a candidate for the Ballon d'Or award even at the age of 18. A winner of LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup, Hansi Flick's side relied heavily on the youngster's impressive individual talent, especially in the second half of the season.
As a result, it came as no surprise that Barcelona confirmed Lamine Yamal's contract extension even before his current deal expires in June 2026. The new deal runs until June 2031, with a call-up that puts him on the list of the best-paid players.
The latest reports suggest that Yamal will not yet be the highest paid player in the squad, but could be if there are changes to his contract, overtaking Robert Lewandowski. The Pole earns around 33.3 million euros a year and could be offered an increase to 36 million euros.
Meanwhile, Yamal was paid around 3 million euros a year, but his basic salary is now set at 30 million euros a year. However, if you add the total amount of financial compensation stipulated for performance and signing bonuses, the figure could rise to 40 million euros. However, 50% of the price would be paid in taxes stipulated by Spanish law.
Yamal impressed with his absurd maturity for a 17-year-old boy

Lamine Yamal managed to surprise Barcelona with a much faster than expected evolution in terms of tactical, technical, physical and behavioral development, being extremely professional and mature even though he hadn't turned 18. Contrary to what some imagined, the Euro title didn't leave Yamal dazzled.
On the contrary, the trophy won with the Spanish national team seems to have been very essential for Yamal to be even more committed to his career at the highest level. He played 55 games for Barcelona this season, scoring 18 goals and making 25 assists.
