Brazil suffered one of the worst defeats in their history with a 4-1 defeat to Argentina in Buenos Aires. The match at the Monumental de Núñez was totally dominated by the team very well coached by Lionel Scaloni, who understood the main weakness of the Brazilian side coached by Dorival Júnior.

The two goals scored by Argentina in just 15 minutes into the game showed that the 4-2-4 formation used by Brazil was a strategic misreading by Dorival Jr. After Julian Álvarez needed just four minutes to open the scoring, Enzo Fernández got the second goal after 33 touches of the ball and almost 1:30 of consecutive possession.

Romero's inattention allowed Matheus Cunha to score Brazil's only goal in the 26th minute, but Brazil showed no collective reaction to curb Argentina's momentum. In the 37th minute, Alexis Mac Allister scored the third goal and wrapped up the victory with much celebration for one of the biggest candidates to win the World Cup in 2026.

In the second half, Brazil made three changes from the starting line-up, but none of the players who came on changed the initial picture: Argentina maintained total control of the midfield and scored the fourth goal through Giuliano Simeone, on his first touch of the ball, in the 71st minute.

The last five games show how Brazil have become a lesser team than Argentina in world soccer. While the reigning world champions are well established under Lionel Scaloni, Brazil continues to experience constant changes of coach while living with the highly contested management of Ednaldo Rodrigues of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation).

Argentina are preparing for the future of the national team without Lionel Messi, and this work will be further developed in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, with coach Lionel Scaloni promising opportunities for young talent in the national team. On the other hand, Brazil are discussing the departure of coach Dorival Júnior, with coaches Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid) and Filipe Luís (Flamengo) being the main candidates.
