Brentford have won two of their last three home games against Manchester United, seeking back-to-back victories over them for the first time in 87 years. The Red Devils have won only two of their last nine clashes with the Bees in West London.

Brentford vs Manchester United preview

Can Manchester United start to build some momentum? Last weekend, Rúben Amorim enjoyed a rare Premier League victory, as his team beat Chelsea 2-1 on a very eventful evening in the pouring rain at Old Trafford. Robert Sánchez was sent off inside five minutes, helping Man United race into a 2-0 lead, with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro on target, only for Casemiro himself to be sent out on the cusp of half time. Now ten vs ten, it took until the the 80th minute for Chelsea to halve the deficit, and an equaliser was not forthcoming, as Old Trafford celebrated a morale-boosting victory.

This win sky-rocketed Manchester United all the way up to 11th, having won two and lost two in the Premier League to date. Amorim is still yet to win back-to-back Premier League games, something the Red Devils last achieved in May 2024 under Erik ten Hag. So, can they change that fact in West London on Saturday lunchtime, having failed to win any of their last three visits to the Gtech?

As for Brentford, a bit of a mixed bag so far. Last Saturday night, despite taking the lead through Mikkel Damsgaard's fine finish, they completely capitulated at Craven Cottage, ultimately beaten 3-1 by local rivals Fulham, and it could have been so much worse.

A week earlier, there had certainly been encouraging signs for Keith Andrews' side, salvaging a last gasp draw against Chelsea, with Fábio Carvalho poking home a stoppage time equaliser. Nevertheless, the Bees have still only won once this season, beating a pretty hopeless Aston Villa side 1-0, albeit they're yet to taste defeat at home, which is just as well given that they've lost all three on the road. Here though, can Brentford spark their season into life with a memorable win?

Keith Andrews has swithced to a back five for the last two matches; it worked pretty well against Chelsea, but not so much against Fulham, so will he stick with that shape here?

Casemiro's red card against Chelsea means he is suspended, so Manuel Ugarte will come into midfield, while new goalkeeper Senne Lammens is still awaiting his debut, with Rúben Amorim continuing to show faith in Altay Bayındır.
