Tottenham have won each of their last four meetings with Brentford, despite having been winless in four encounters immediately beforehand.

The Bees have won only one of their last 20 encounters with Spurs, their most-recent home win in this fixture coming in 1948.

Brentford vs Tottenham preview

As we approach the mid-way point of this Premier League season, few would've predicted that Thomas Frank's old team would be above his new one, making this an intriguing London derby.

On Sunday, Frank's Tottenham Hotspur claimed a crucial victory, with Archie Gray the only scorer against Crystal Palace at Selhurst, a match that was in truth more one-sided than the 1-0 scoreline would suggest, Richarlison twice seeing goals disallowed by VAR. Before this, Spurs had won one of eight league matches since the start of November, losing five of them, so are down in 13th place.

At home, only the bottom three have collected more points than Tottenham's eight while, on the road, the Lilywhites would regain top spot in the away table with victory here, albeit they were winless in three away prior to the weekend. Nevertheless, with Sunderland, Bournemouth, West Ham and then Burnley their next four opponents after this visit to West London, Frank really needs this to be the start of a winning run, as he aims to win over the still unconvinced Tottenham faithful.

Well, the Danish coach was adored during his nigh on a decade at Brentford, but could his former set-piece coach usurp his legacy? On Saturday, Keith Andrews' side demolished Bournemouth 4-1 in West London, with Kevin Schade bagging a hat-trick during a dominant display.

That's now back-to-back wins for the Bees, propelling them up to ninth, and while Spurs are impressive on the road, they are generally impenetrable at home. Only Manchester City have departed the Gtech victorious this season, with Andrews' side winning six of nine matches, including beating Aston Villa, Man United, Liverpool and Newcastle. So, will it be an unhappy return to West London for Frank, with Brentford optimistic of springing a surprise on New Year's Day?

In midfield, Jordan Henderson and Mikkel Damsgaard had been excellent earlier in the campaign, but Vitaly Janelt and Mathias Jensen could start a third and four successive match respectively instead.
