Chelsea's debut in the Premier League was a disappointment for their fans and the start of the match against West Ham was provoking new negative feelings, but the situation away from home was turned around in brutal fashion and the Blues thrashed West Ham 5-1, leaving their opponents in a deep crisis on Matchday 2.

London derby drama ends in humiliation for West Ham

As mentioned earlier, West Ham gave Enzo Maresca's side a real scare just six minutes into the match when Lucas Paquetá hit a spectacular shot into the corner after Estêvão had failed to clear. Even with the deficit, the Blues reacted quickly with a free-kick from Cucurella's deflection at the far post, with João Pedro finishing for the goal.

Then it was the London side's turn to fail considerably with Lucas Paquetá being dispossessed and the ball reaching João Pedro, who crossed for Pedro Neto to put the Blues ahead. After that, Chelsea took complete control of the action and didn't allow the Blues any more chances.

One of the most eye-catching moves of the match came in the 34th minute, when Estêvão played a good one-two with Delap on the right and crossed for Enzo Fernández to extend the lead. In a sign of strong protest, many fans left the stands during the first half, but Aston Vilal were far from improved in the second half.

Chelsea kept up their aggression and continued to create several chances, quickly turning the win into a rout. After a corner was taken from the left, Hermansen failed to clear the ball for Moisés Caicedo to strike firmly from the right. Unable to react, it didn't take long for West Ham to concede their final goal, when Hermansen once again failed to clear a cross and saw João Pedro slot home for Chalobah to score the fifth.

Chelsea's strong performance has made fans believe that there are definitely chances for a strong campaign and especially for the possibility of fighting for the Premier League title, despite other favorites being higher in the projections.
