Wembley was set to witness one of the most historic moments in recent years in England, and so it was: with a 1-0 victory over Manchester City (even with 10 minutes of extra time in the second half), Crystal Palace won their first ever title in an amazing the FA Cup final.

The Citzens tried to go on the attack from the first minute and Haaland wasted a good chance to score, but Dean Henderson began to look good with a save. In another high-pressure opportunity, Gvardiol rose higher than the defenders, but Henderson again pulled off a fine save.

But the story really began to unfold in the 16th minute, when Igor Muñoz received a pass from Kamada on the right wing and the cross into the area reached Eze, who got behind his marker and finished into the corner to the delight of the Palace fans. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola's side continued to attack, but were unable to turn this into goals.

The biggest chance came in the 33rd minute, when Bernardo Silva was brought down by Mitchell in a clear penalty inside the box. Marmoush hit the ball firmly into the corner, but Henderson made an excellent save to make Crystal Palace history for good. Before the break, Doku tried to score from a one-on-one and left his markers behind, but Henderson made another sensational save.

Manchester City came back from the break with the same attacking attitude and Doku had another good chance to score the equalizer, but his shot sailed over the goal, reflecting what the second half was like. Unlike in the first half, Guardiola's side suffered greatly from a lack of efficiency with shots on target.

It's worth noting that Crystal Palace even scored a second goal after a corner kick, when Muñoz received the ball in the box on the right and hit a cross that was deflected by Sarr, who was in an offside position. Despite the enormous pressure, Guardiola's side only had a clearer chance in the 81st minute with Foden's firm shot, but Henderson made a last-ditch save to secure the historic title.

Crystal Palace steps up a gear and consolidates its place among the giants

This title represented a definitive step up for Crystal Palace, with Glasner's work very well consolidated, as well as a guaranteed place in the UEFA Europa League and the certainty that the squad will be strengthened and not dismantled for next season.
