It seemed as if the negotiations between the Premier League clubs were completely over and all 20 clubs had already defined their ideal teams for the start of the competition this Friday. However, the last few hours have been marked by a shocking reveal involving the possibility of Savinho leaving Manchester City.

According to the always well-informed Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have opened negotiations with Manchester City to sign Brazilian winger Savinho. The 21-year-old striker is said to be excited about the possibility of the transfer and hopes that the clubs can agree on the price of the deal.

Savinho arrived at Manchester City from Troyes in July 2024 for around €40 million, but his career breakthrough came in the 2023/24 season on loan at Girona, where he impressed with 9 goals and 10 assists in 41 games. Since joining Pep Guardiola's side, he has contributed 3 goals and 11 assists in 48 games, demonstrating his main skills of dribbling and organizing attacking play.

Son Heung-min's departure linked to interest in signing Savinho

All indications are that Tottenham's interest in Savinho arose shortly after Son Heung-min's departure to LAFC and a long-term injury to James Maddison, who was unavailable for the final pre-season games and will certainly miss the start of the 2025/26 Premier League without match fitness. Spurs manager Thomas Frank has identified Savinho as an ideal player to bolster the team's attacking options.

Although Manchester City are not actively interested in selling Savinho at the moment with a view to working on the Brazilian's long-term development, Tottenham are keen to secure the signing after identifying a major gap in the squad before the start of the season. The outcome of the ongoing negotiations could shape Spurs' attacking line-up for next season and alter the projections of Thomas Frank's side.
