Arsenal had all but ended negotiations involving Viktor Gyokeres after agreeing all terms with the striker and signaling that they would accept the updated figure proposed by Sporting. The Swede is also making it clear that he is prioritizing the Gunners, but the latest news from Fabrizio Romano has made Manchester United fans much more hopeful in recent hours.
According to the Italian journalist, Sporting have officially contacted the Red Devils' management and stated that they want to sell Gyokeres to the Red Devils, who would have a reserve of between 70 and 80 million euros to sign the striker. In addition, there is total alignment with United's bidding model, something that is not happening with the Gunners at the moment.
Arsenal even presented an official offer of 63.5 million euros with 10 million euros in bonuses, with manager Asan Cetinkaya giving up his 10% commission in order to reach the full agreement. Even so, Sporting have put the brakes on negotiations by signaling that they want total certainty that they will receive the full amount, seeking clauses that are easy for Gyokeres to beat, something that Arsenal do not agree with.
Arsenal silent after Manchester United bid
Since Manchester United formalized their bid to sign Gyokeres, Arsenal have given no update to Sporting, adding to the concerns of the striker and his manager. Meanwhile, in protest at the delay in negotiations, Viktor Ghyokeres has still not reappeared at Sporting after nine days since the start of pre-season. The 27-year-old striker is on vacation in Mallorca, Spain, and is still waiting for his situation to be resolved.
Scorer of 52 goals last season, the Swede is adamant that he wants to be coached by Mikel Arteta at Arsenal and, despite the developments between the Lions and Manchester United, he has no intention of turning back and will continue to fight to join the Gunners, who will be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season, while the Red Devils will have no continental tournament.
