The win put the team in a pretty exclusive group of clubs that have managed double-digit road victories in the MLS post-shootout era. Even more impressive, the Orange and Blue are the first to do it in back-to-back seasons, which only adds weight to their 2024 run. With those three points, Cincinnati moved to 58 in the standings, just two behind the Philadelphia Union, with three regular season games still to play.

The Brazilians’ impact and Evander’s sharp touch

Cincinnati didn’t waste any time. Ten minutes in, Samuel Gidi pressed high, Brenner stole the ball and connected with Evander. The midfielder slipped a perfect pass through for Ender Echenique, and the Venezuelan tucked away his first goal for the club.

By the 22nd minute, Evander was involved again. Kévin Denkey held up play in the final third and found the Brazilian, who burst into space and squared for Brenner. The forward finished calmly to make it 2-0. Galaxy hit back before halftime, when Joseph Paintsil rose to head in a Diego Fagúndez cross at the 39th.

Late in the game, Cincinnati added one more. In the 88th, Evander picked out Brenner with a ball in behind the defense. He controlled, took a quick touch to his left foot, and buried it for his second of the match. Cuevas grabbed one back for Galaxy in stoppage time, but that was as close as they got.

Evander walked off with three assists, tying the club record for most in a single game. It was only the fourth time a Cincinnati player had done that since the club joined MLS. Brenner, meanwhile, now has three goals since rejoining the squad in August, showing good timing as the season heads into its decisive stretch.

Records that keep Cincinnati in the spotlight

This latest victory pushed Cincinnati to 18 wins in 2024. That makes them just the second club in MLS history to hit that number three years in a row, matching DC United’s run from 1997 to 1999. Over that span, Cincinnati have collected 56 wins, the highest total in a three-year stretch during the post-shootout era.

Their form away from home is striking too. Alongside 10 road wins this year, the team has rattled off six straight against Western Conference opponents — the longest such streak since 2000. Head coach Pat Noonan’s record against the West now stands at 17 wins, four draws and five losses. In 2024 alone, it’s five wins and one draw.

And there’s also the head-to-head with Galaxy. In just two MLS meetings between the clubs, Cincinnati has come out on top both times, including their first-ever trip to Los Angeles earlier this season.
