Nottingham Forest have won each of their last three Premier League meetings with Manchester United, despite suffering 11 successive defeats across all competitions in this fixture beforehand.

The Red Devils are seeking to avoid three successive league defeats at the City Ground for the first time since 1967.

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United preview

Can Manchester United continue their winning streak? Last Saturday evening, the Red Devils claimed a statement victory over Brighton at Old Trafford, prevailing 4-2, but the match was significantly more one-sided than this scoreline would suggest. They raced into a 3-0 lead, Matheus Cunha curling home the opener, Casemiro's deflected shot doubling their advantage and then Bryan Mbeumo slotting home a third. The Seagulls did score twice late on, seemingly setting up a nervy finish, only for Mbeumo to emphatically rubber stamp victory deep into injury time.

Following victories over Sunderland and then Liverpool at Anfield, Manchester United have now won three consecutive Premier League outings for the first time since February 2024. Prior to this, Rúben Amorim had never even won back-to-back league games since his appointment almost exactly a year ago, but they are now up to sixth place, level on points with Man City and above Liverpool. With this trip to the City Ground, followed by next Saturday's visit to Tottenham up next, we will now discover if Manchester United are truly back, or if this is simply the latest in a long line of false dawns.

Nottingham Forest meantime need points and fast. In Sean Dyche's first match in charge, the Tricky Trees beat Porto 2-0 in the Europa League; Igor Jesus and Morgan Gibbs-White both converting penalties. This means that Dyche won more matches in one game as Forest boss then Ange Postecoglou managed in eight attempts. However, Dyche is still searching for his first Premier League points, following last Sunday's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth by the South Coast.

That is now four straight Premier League defeats for the Garibaldi Reds, who remain in the relegation zone with just five points to their name, four of which were earned under Nuno Espírito Santo. With no mid-week game, Dyche has had a first full week to work with his new players at Wilford Lane, so can he come up with a masterplan to burst Manchester United's bubble on the banks of the River Trent?

Nottingham Forest team news

Sean Dyche seems to have settled on a starting lineup quickly, after being parachuted in, with Nicolò Savona starting at full-back, considering that Ola Aina and Oleksandr Zinchenko are injured.

In attack, this season's top-scorer Igor Jesus could continue to lead the line, given that trusted Dyche disciple Chris Wood is struggling with a knee injury. Lastly, Neco Williams would sit out next Sunday's clash with Leeds if cautioned which, given the lack of squad depth, would be a massive issue.

Nottingham Forest predicted lineup vs Manchester United: (4-3-3): Sels; Savona, Milenković, Murillo, Williams; Douglas Luiz, Anderson, Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Igor Jesus.

Nottingham Forest player to watch vs Manchester United

Morgan Gibbs-White opened his account for the campaign against Porto, the first goal of the Dyche era, while he netted in wins over Manchester United in both December of 2023 and 2024, so can he repeat the feat on Saturday?

Manchester United team news

Here's something one cannot say too often; given their ongoing winning run, there is little reason for Rúben Amorim to make changes to his team.

Anfield hero Harry Maguire missed out against Brighton, so Leny Yoro came into defence, while Benjamin Šeško will continue to lead the line alongside Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Manchester United predicted lineup vs Nottingham Forest: (4-3-3): Lammens; Yoro, de Ligt, Shaw; Amad, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dalot; Mbeumo, Cunha, Šeško.

Manchester United player to watch vs Nottingham Forest

Last weekend was Bruno Fernandes' 300th appearance for Manchester United, only eight non-British or Irish players have more, set to overtake Nemanja Vidić here, just 46 behind compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo. Of his 100 goal for the club, three have come against Nottingham Forest, so can he increase this tally at the City Ground?

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United prediction

Unsure if this would constitute an upset, but we're backing Nottingham Forest for a vital victory on Saturday. We believe, following a week on the training ground, Sean Dyche will come up with a masterplan, while one cannot full truly Man United yet: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Manchester United.
