Atalanta have put in a bid to bring in Rodrigo Muniz, the 24-year-old forward currently with Fulham. Reports from Italy’s Sky Sports say the offer is worth 35 million euros, plus another five million in bonuses, in an effort to secure the Brazilian’s signature.

The Italian side are looking to beef up their attack after selling Mateo Retegui, last season’s Serie A top scorer, to Al-Qadsiah for 68.25 million euros. On top of that, they may also be about to lose Ademola Lookman, who’s been one of their most important players in recent years.

Muniz’s current situation at Fulham

Muniz is coming off a season where his numbers looked solid, but the regular starts just weren’t there. In 2024/25, he found the net 11 times and added two assists across 36 matches, but logged only 1,355 minutes in total. That works out to roughly 37 and a half minutes a game — a clear sign of how much competition there’s been with Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez for the starting spot. He came off the bench 23 times and started just 13 matches. The year before, it was flipped, with 23 starts and only 10 appearances as a sub.

That reduced role is part of why Muniz and his camp see Atalanta’s approach as appealing. A switch to Italy could finally give him a shot at being a first-choice striker in European soccer — something he hasn’t experienced since moving to the continent.

Why Atalanta are interested

The club need attacking reinforcements, with Retegui gone and Lookman possibly heading out too. Muniz is younger than Retegui, which could make him a longer-term piece for them. Even with less time on the pitch last season, his stats point to a player who’s efficient and still has room to develop.

There’s no agreement yet. Fulham haven’t shown much willingness to part with him right now, but the offer is big enough to make them think. In the end, the decision will likely balance what Muniz can bring to the squad in England against his own wish for more minutes and a bigger stage in another league.
