Manchester United have won 23 of their last 29 Premier League encounters with Fulham, with the Red Devils claiming victory on each of their their last eight visits to Craven Cottage, losing on the banks of the River Thames only twice since 1964.

Fulham vs Manchester United preview

After an encouraging beginning to the campaign, albeit one that did not yield any points, will Manchester United get off the mark in week two? In last Sunday's main event, the Red Devils were beaten 1-0 by Arsenal at Old Trafford, the only goal coming in the 13th minute when Altay Bayındır flapped at a corner, rather gifting the Gunners their goal on a silver platter. After that though, Man United did dominate, new signing Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha going close in particular, but they lacked the cutting edge to find an equaliser.

So, despite all the positives, this does mean Rúben Amorim has now lost 15 of 27 Premier League matches in charge, winning only seven, the fastest any manager has reached 15 defeats in the competition's history (excluding newly-promoted teams). Next weekend, they welcome Burnley to Old Trafford, followed by a Manchester derby at the Etihad after the international break. So, while there were signs of encouragement against Arsenal, Man United now need to put points on the board.

Fulham meantime did get off the mark in their season opener, but certainly left it late to do so. The Cottagers were on the cusp of defeat at Brighton, conceding a penalty shortly after half time, only for Rodrigo Muniz to bundle home a 96th minute equaliser, sparking wild celebrations in Sussex.

Supporters have been frustrated by Fulham's lack of transfer activity this summer with back-up goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, who cost just £500,000, their sole new recruit to date. Thus, the Cottagers appear set to stand still in mid-table no man's land, albeit their draw with Brighton was a reminder that Marco Silva's side will still remain competitive. The Cottagers did knock Manchester United out of the FA Cup at Old Trafford on penalties back in May, but can they now defeat the Red Devils at Craven Cottage for the first time in 16 years?

Fulham team news

As already referenced, no new signings in the Fulham line-up, while star left-back Antonee Robinson remains sidelined having undergone knee surgery during the summer.

His natural deputy, Ryan Sessegnon, also sat out the trip to Brighton with a knock, hence why Calvin Bassey shifted across to left-back, with Jorge Cuenca starting the middle. Sessegnon could return in time for this one. The notable starter in Sussex was 18 year old Josh King, getting the nod as the number ten, chosen over Andreas Pereira and Emile Smith Rowe, while will Rodrigo Muniz's goal see him lead the line, hoping to displace Raúl Jiménez?

Fulham predicted lineup vs Manchester United: (4-3-3): Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Sessegnon; Berge, Lukić, Wilson, King, Iwobi; Muniz.

Fulham player to watch vs Manchester United

The last Fulham player to score during the first two weekends of a Premier League season was Damien Duff in 2012, the second of which came against Manchester United, something Rodrigo Muniz will be looking to replicate.

Manchester United team news

As part of Manchester United's new-look front three, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo both started against Arsenal. Mason Mount completed the attacking trio until Benjamin Šeško was introduced for the final 25 minutes, so will the Slovenian make his full-debut this time?

Elsewhere, somewhat surprisingly, Casemiro got the nod as the midfield anchor, chosen over Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte. At the back, with Lisandro Martínez and Noussair Mazraoui sidelined, Luke Shaw will continue to be deployed as the left-sided centre-back.

The big decision Rúben Amorim has to make comes in goal. André Onana was not deemed ready last Sunday, having not featured at all during pre-season due to a hamstring injury, so, having publicly backed Altay Bayındır, despite his costly error, will he stick with the Turkish international?

Manchester United predicted lineup vs Fulham: (4-3-3): Bayındır; Yoro, de Ligt, Shaw; Amad, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Cunha, Šeško.

Manchester United player to watch vs Fulham

During his time across West London, Bryan Mbeumo scored four times in eight appearances against Fulham, including a brace at Craven Cottage two years ago, so will he get off the mark in a Man United shirt?

Fulham vs Manchester United prediction

This clash in the prime time Sunday slot is so tough to call. It should guarantee goals, but we're sitting on the fence and forecasting a draw, as it could go either way: Fulham 2-2 Manchester United.
