New England Revolution announced the signing of 23-year-old forward Griffin Yow, who was playing for Westerlo in Belgium’s Pro League. Yow signed a contract through the 2027–28 season, with an option to extend through 2028–30. To complete the deal, the club acquired Yow’s contract priority from Vancouver Whitecaps FC in exchange for $125,000 in 2026 general allocation money and a second-round pick in the 2027 MLS SuperDraft.
Yow joins the Revolution after more than three years in European soccer. With Westerlo, he appeared in 86 official matches, scoring 18 goals and adding 10 assists. Before that, he came through the DC United academy, playing for the club between 2019 and 2022, where he recorded three goals and two assists in 32 MLS regular-season matches. At the international level, the forward also represented the United States at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Reunion with Mitrović and a familiar profile internally
The signing of a future USMNT prospect marks a reunion with head coach Marko Mitrović. The two worked together with the United States Olympic team during the 2024 Summer Olympics. Since the start of the preseason, Yow is the third New England signing with prior experience under Mitrović, following midfielder Brooklyn Raines and defender Ethan Kohler.
Mitrović spoke about the forward after the official announcement. “I had the pleasure of coaching Griffin with the U.S. Olympic Team, where he quickly impressed me with his willingness to learn, his desire to develop, and his determination to win,” the coach said. He also highlighted Yow’s on-field traits. “Griffin has strong instinctive attacking skills that complement his speed and ball control. I’m looking forward to welcoming him to our team and working with him again.”
International experience and fan reaction
New England Revolution sporting director Curt Onalfo also commented on the signing. “Griffin Yow is a talented winger who will strengthen our attack,” he said. “Griffin brings valuable playing experience from abroad, in MLS, and in international competitions.” Onalfo added, “Griffin’s athleticism and decision-making in the final third will help us be more dangerous around goal in the coming years.”
On social media, the reaction from fans was largely positive. Among the comments, supporters highlighted both the player’s profile and the terms of the deal. “Looks like a great move, especially if the number stays below TAM. A promising young American who’s already done well in Europe? I’m in,” one fan wrote. Another added, “He needs to play if they want to turn him into a star. Something DCU never figured out. Put him on the field and he’ll shine.”
New England Revolution’s 2026 MLS season begins on February 21 against Nashville SC. Until then, Griffin Yow starts a new chapter in his career, now back in North American soccer, bringing European experience, a past in MLS, and the backing of coaches and executives who already know him well.
