Houston Dynamo is heading back to the field, and yeah, pressure’s all over them. They need a win, badly. On Saturday, they’ll take on St. Louis CITY SC at Shell Energy Stadium. Neither team is doing great. In fact, both are dragging around a string of rough games that’s got fans restless and coaches watching closely.
Houston’s stuck in 11th place in the West, sitting on 20 points from 19 games. St. Louis? Even worse. Dead last. Just 15 points. No wins in their last three. Confidence is clearly shot on both sides. You can feel it.
History’s not really helping Houston here either. Since St. Louis joined MLS last year, they’ve played six times. St. Louis came out on top three times, drew twice, and only lost once. And get this, Houston’s never beaten them in a regular-season game at home. One draw ended 1-1. The other was just flat: 0-0. So yeah, it’s not just about fixing the now. There’s a weird streak hanging over this team too.
Dynamo needs to wake up at home before the season slips away
This season started with hope. Dynamo had momentum from last year. But three straight losses really messed that up. They gave up three goals in each match—to Minnesota, Montréal, and Kansas City and only managed to find the net once. That’s nine goals allowed. Not much fight back.
This part of the season? It’s where teams either start building something or crash out. Every single point starts to matter. Playing at home should be an advantage. But if they don’t fix the little things fast, even games like this one, against a struggling team, can get out of hand.
St. Louis still looks lost and has no time to waste
If Houston’s in a tough spot, St. Louis might be in something worse. They’re second to last in the whole league and sitting at the bottom of the West. They’re ten points away from the playoff line. That’s not nothing. It already cost their coach his job. David Critchley’s been holding the clipboard since then, trying to steady things.
He’s had four games. One win, one draw, two losses. The latest, against Orlando, looked like it might turn into something. They went down 3-0 early but pulled back two goals with Simon Becher and Klauss stepping up. Then... nothing. Orlando scored again late and shut the door.
With only three wins in 19 games, there’s not much breathing room left. They’ve got to find a way to steal points on the road. And fast. Houston might be struggling, sure, but that makes this even more dangerous. If they blow this one too, they’re in trouble. Real trouble.
