In preparation for the FIFA Club World Cup, Inter Miami are looking to sign a new player in particular, with a view to having more options in the squad. On the recommendation of Lionel Messi, coach Javier Mascheranno has authorized the club to pursue the signing of a 35-year-old Argentine defender.

Reports in South America suggest that Lionel Messi has requested the signing of Marcos Rojo, a defender who used to play for Manchester United and is currently at Boca Juniors. His contract with the Argentinian club runs until December and his market value is low, at just 300,000 euros, fitting in perfectly with the MLS team.

In addition to the favorable value of the deal, another important point for Inter Miami was the negative relationship that Marcos Rojo is currently facing at Boca Juniors. Even though he has gained more minutes with Miguel Ángel Russo, the club's management has not yet started talks to renew his contract.

Boca Juniors are looking for new players to bolster their defensive system, making Inter Miami's interest even greater. And as already mentioned, Lionel Messi is convinced that Rojo's arrival could bring much greater security to the defense.

The arrival of a leader, with a player who has played for important teams in Europe such as Manchester United and Sporting, is essential for the team to concede fewer goals, which is one of the biggest problems for Javier Mascheranno this season. Not to mention the marketing potential that the Argentine's arrival would bring to the MLS.

If the signing goes through, it will be a great personal victory for Lionel Messi, who has been actively involved in choosing new players and making very important decisions about Inter Miami's future since he started his contract.
