Many fans believed that Inter Miami's performance would improve considerably after their shock elimination in the Concacaf Champions League semi-finals, with more focus on the MLS. However, Javier Mascherano's side are definitely going through an identity crisis with less than a month to go until the FIFA Club World Cup.

The derby against Orlando City had all the makings of a comeback, but Inter Miami were beaten 3-0 with goals from Muriel, Pasalic and Thorhallsson. As a result, the team are now on an indigestible run of three consecutive games without a win in the MLS, with two defeats and a draw.

In the 43rd minute, Orlando opened the scoring with an eye-catching simplicity: goalkeeper Pedro Gallese launched the ball across midfield and Luis Muriel ran with absurd freedom until he got close to Oscar Ustari to finish without giving the goalkeeper a chance to save. This was one of the most absurd goals Inter Miami have conceded in their entire MLS campaign.

It's worth noting that the visitors almost added to their lead soon after, when Inter Miami lost the ball in their defensive half and Marti Ojeda was also free to finish, but his shot went over the bar. However, the second goal was made easy after the 38-year-old failed to deal with Marco Pasilic's low shot, with the ball passing between his hands and legs.

Mascherano even tried to throw in a few attacking players to try to get the game back on track, but in stoppage time, Duncan McGuire advanced down the left and delivered a low cross for British striker Dagur Thorhallson to score the third away goal and end a nightmare night for Inter Miami.

Over the last seven games, Inter Miami have conceded 20 goals and scored just 11, with the only win in this sequence coming against the New York Red Bulls on May 3. Furthermore, this defeat left Mascherano's side only in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, with 22 points.

With a tactical mess and a lack of efficiency in attack, the ball is also not getting to Lionel Messi, who has put in some lackluster performances in the current MLS season. Against Orlando City, the Argentine striker had just two shots on goal in 90 minutes.
