The final stretch of the 2024/25 season was a very traumatic experience for Inter Milan fans, with the Coppa Italia semi-final defeat to AC Milan, the loss of the Serie A title to Napoli and a historic defeat to PSG in the UEFA Champions League, all of which led to the departure of Simone Inzaghi. At the Club World Cup, Cristian Chivu had the opportunity to adapt to the team and implement his initial ideas, and the FIFA tournament seems to have been a good experience in the end.

In their first game in front of their home fans against Torino, Inter ran out 5-0 winners to close the first round of Serie A matches in the lead, dominating the game completely. In the 18th minute, Bastoni opened the scoring after a cross from Barella, and in the 36th minute, the lead was extended with a low finish from Marcus Thuram.

Despite the lead in the first half, Inter's great display came after the break, with very high pressure making it difficult for their opponents to build attacking moves. Under pressure, Gineitis misplaced a pass in defense and Lautaro Martínez wasted the chance to score Inter's third goal. Twelve minutes later, Thuram took advantage of Bastoni's cross to score the fourth goal for the Italian runners-up.

Inter Milan performed surprisingly well on the first matchday

Brazilians Carlos Augusto and Luis Enrique were brought on in the final minutes of the match with strong support from the fans and great expectation, but it was Ange-Yoan Bonny who made the final impact, taking advantage of another risky pass from the Uruguayan goalkeeper to seal a 5-0 win for Inter Milan. Yan Sommer made some good saves in the few opportunities given up by a compact defense, and this performance on the opening day could be essential if Inter are to pick up more points than their direct rivals at the start of Serie A, as well as chasing Napoli from start to finish.
