LAFC walked off BMO Stadium with three points and another clean sheet after a confident 2-0 win over FC Dallas. The goals came early — Nathan Ordaz opened the scoring in the 31st minute and Denis Bouanga added the second before halftime, converting a penalty after drawing the foul himself. It was the second straight win for LAFC to open July in the MLS regular season.

The result puts the Los Angeles club at 32 points, currently sitting sixth in the Western Conference standings. They still have games in hand over the five teams ahead of them. FC Dallas, meanwhile, continues to struggle. They’re stuck in 13th place with 21 points and little momentum.

LAFC strike first and control the game early

The first goal came from a high press that paid off. Mark Delgado won the ball deep in Dallas territory and sent it left to Bouanga. Without hesitation, Bouanga fired in a low ball to Ordaz, who turned on it quickly and placed his shot into the far corner. Maarten Paes couldn’t keep it out. That’s two goals in two games now for the young forward.

Bouanga made his mark again just before the break. After slicing through the left side of the box, he drew contact from Shaq Moore and went down. He stepped up and calmly buried the penalty, sending Paes the wrong way and doubling the lead before the teams went into the locker room.

Another strong defensive showing

The second half didn’t have the same urgency, but LAFC didn’t lose their grip on the game. Paes was called on to make eight saves as LAFC kept pressing for more, but the score stayed where it was. Dallas, on the other hand, had a hard time stringing together anything dangerous. They didn’t offer much going forward and finished the match with only one shot on target.

Captain Aaron Long had to leave the field in the 76th minute due to injury, but LAFC’s backline held strong until the final whistle. That makes it 250 minutes without conceding, going back to their match against Vancouver on June 29.

This was LAFC’s second straight shutout and their ninth clean sheet at home this season. Out of 15 matches played at BMO Stadium in all competitions, they’ve allowed zero goals in more than half of them.

Home field advantage is no longer subtle

The numbers at BMO Stadium are adding up. LAFC have now won 12 of their 15 home games this year across all competitions. In the league, they’ve gone 8-2-1 at home—an elite record by any measure.

Against Dallas specifically, the dominance is hard to ignore. Since May 2019, the teams have met seven times in Los Angeles. LAFC have won six of those and drawn the other. The aggregate score? 13-3.
