LAFC announced the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Amin Boudri from GAIS in Sweden’s top division on a contract running through June 2029, with an option to extend through 2030. The young Swede arrives under the U22 Initiative and joins the roster as an international player, strengthening the group set to open the 2026 MLS season on February 21.
Boudri lands in Los Angeles with eight goals and two assists in 53 appearances for GAIS, along with a stint at Venezia FC, where he came through the youth ranks. With Sweden’s U21 national team, he has one goal in eight matches and made his international debut in November 2024 in a 2–0 friendly win over the Republic of Ireland. He’s a midfielder known for high pressing, tackling, and passing, traits that help explain Black & Gold’s move.
“We’re very happy to welcome Amin to the club,” said LAFC co-president and general manager John Thorrington, who added: “Amin is an incredibly talented young midfielder, with excellent technique and the ability to both create chances and score goals. He’s coming off a great season in Sweden, where he’s recognized as one of the top young players in the region.”
A young arrival for an already star-studded roster
Born in Hässelby, Sweden, Boudri came through AIK’s academy in Stockholm before moving on to Venezia Primavera, the Italian club’s U19 side. Now he joins LAFC to become part of a squad that already features big attacking names like Son Heung-Min and Denis Bouanga.
The Swede is still waiting on his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 visa to be cleared, but he’s officially tied to the club and will occupy an international roster spot. The expectation is that he’ll provide another midfield option throughout the season, bringing intensity and involvement on both sides of the ball.
Eyes on the opener against Messi and Inter Miami
The signing comes right on the doorstep of a demanding start to the year. LAFC open their 2026 campaign against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, the reigning MLS Cup champions, an immediate test for a roster still settling in.
Boudri arrives as another piece in that process, adding youth, energy, and versatility to a group facing a packed schedule. It’s not a headline-grabbing move, but it says plenty about where the club stands right now: backing a 21-year-old with youth international experience and meaningful minutes in Europe to strengthen the midfield ahead of a pivotal season.
