Los Angeles FC beat Toronto FC 2-0 at BMO Stadium, extending their winning streak to six games this season. The result pushed the club to 59 points, just one behind San Diego and Vancouver Whitecaps in the tight race for the top of the Western Conference. With two matches left and one game in hand over San Diego, the California side heads into the final stretch with a real shot at finishing first. Jeremy Ebobisse and Frankie Amaya scored the goals that kept the momentum alive.

Early efficiency

Without Son Heung-min and Denis Bouanga, who were away on international duty, Ebobisse returned to the starting lineup and needed just 13 minutes to open the scoring. The forward stripped Alonso Coello of the ball, drove straight toward the net, and beat goalkeeper Sean Johnson. The goal gave LAFC an early lead and showed their strength even without their main attacking weapons.

Toronto tried to respond in the first half with long-range efforts from Maxime Dominguez and Coello, but the visitors couldn’t turn possession into real danger. LAFC’s back line stayed in control and carried the narrow lead into halftime.

Second-half decision

Thirteen minutes into the second half, LAFC had a chance to double the lead when David Martínez was fouled in the box. Sean Johnson saved the penalty, keeping Toronto alive. Moments later, Eddie Segura won the ball back in midfield and found Frankie Amaya on the right. The midfielder needed only one touch before slotting it low into the corner with his right foot. It was the team’s second goal and Amaya’s first for the club.

Toronto made late substitutions, bringing on Deandre Kerr, Markus Cimermancic, and Malik Henry in a final push, but couldn’t create clear chances. Alonso Coello’s red card after a VAR review ended any real hope of a comeback.

Home dominance

The win confirmed LAFC’s strength at home. The team now has 11 wins, 4 draws, and 2 losses at BMO Stadium, earning 35 points there this season. Across all competitions at home in 2025, the record stands at 16 wins, 4 draws, and 4 losses. It was also their third straight clean sheet, pushing their shutout streak to 346 minutes. Hugo Lloris made three saves and recorded his 11th clean sheet of the season, just one away from matching his personal best.
