Chelsea have won ten of their last 14 meetings with Leeds United, albeit the Whites are seeking back-to-back wins over the Blues at Elland Road for the first time since 1998.
When the pair last met in West Yorkshire in August 2022, Jesse Marsch and Thomas Tuchel were the two managers, Kalidou Koulibaly, Thiago Silva, Jorginho, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling were among the starters for the away side, with Leeds running out 3-0 winners.
Leeds vs Chelsea preview
After missing the opportunity to close the gap to first place on Sunday, can Chelsea pick up three points in West Yorkshire? At the weekend, in a top of the table clash against Arsenal, the Blues were unquestionably the better side, well until Moisés Caicedo was sent off for a nasty challenge. Despite being down to ten men, the home side did take the lead through Trevoh Chalobah's header, only for the Gunners to hit back soon after, but Enzo Maresca's side held on to earn a share of the spoils.

Given that they played the entire second half a man down, Chelsea were pretty content with the point they earned, although perhaps one could argue Caicedo cost his team dearly. Before this, the Blues had won three Premier League games in a row, and five of their last six, but have slipped down to third, six points adrift the leaders. With Bournemouth to come on Saturday, these two away games in West Yorkshire and then Dorset will be a stern litmus test of their title credentials.
As for Leeds United, as everyone expected, they were beaten by Manchester City on Saturday, but not in the fashion most imagined. When the Citizens led 1-0 inside 60 seconds and then 2-0 after 25 minutes, it looked like being a long afternoon for the visiting supporters. However, Dominic Calvert-Lewin halved the deficit shortly after the interval, before Lukas Nmecha turned home an equaliser, having seen his penalty had been saved. So, just when it appeared as though Daniel Farke's side were going to earn an unlikely and precious point, the Sky Blues snatched victory in injury time.

This means Leeds have now lost four successive Premier League matches, as well as six of their last seven, but surely showed signs of encouragement, just as pressure was starting to crank up on Farke. On Saturday evening, the Whites will welcome Liverpool to Elland Road, meaning they have two massive home games in the space of four days, so can Leeds claim a major mid-week scalp here?

With both Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff sidelined, Ilia Gruev and Ao Tanaka came into midfield at the weekend, both expected to keep their places here too.

In attack, fit again Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto got the nod against Manchester City, with Lukas Nmecha leading the line. However, any of Noah Okafor, Brenden Aaronson or Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be back in for this one.
Captain Ethan Ampadu will sit out Saturday's clash with Liverpool if booked.
Leeds United predicted lineup vs Chelsea: (4-3-3): Perri; Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson; Ampadu, Gruev, Tanaka; Aaronson, Gnonto, Nmecha.

The aforementioned Ethan Ampadu joined Chelsea as a 16 year old, but made just 12 appearances for the Blues' first team, so can he show them what they passed up on?

Leeds United vs Chelsea prediction
We are backing Chelsea to claim a high-scoring victory at Elland Road, with the Blues likely to boast simply too much quality for a Leeds side lacking top-end talent: Leeds United 1-3 Chelsea.
