Bayern Munich tried. So did Barcelona. But Liverpool’s response was clear, firm, and final: Luis Díaz is not available for negotiations. The report, published by The Athletic, puts an end, at least for now, to the speculation surrounding the Colombian’s future.
The English club rejected a €67.5 million offer from the German side and had already turned down an approach from Barça. Liverpool’s front office made it clear that the forward is not for sale and they’re not even considering hearing offers. The message has been sent.
Liverpool’s refusal is technical, strategic, and symbolic
This “no” is not just a financial decision. It carries technical weight, symbolic meaning, and it sets the tone for what Liverpool wants this season under Arne Slot. The €100 million valuation is only a figure for accounting purposes. There’s no indication the club plans to turn that number into cash.
Especially not now, with the squad being rebuilt. Losing Luis Díaz at this point would open up a technical and emotional gap that no market value could possibly cover.
Since joining from Porto in January 2022, Luis Díaz has steadily grown inside the club. He adapted quickly to the Premier League, performed in big games, won over the fans, and delivered on the field.
Last season, he played a key role in the Premier League title run, and also lifted the FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, and the Community Shield.
Bayern and Barcelona were too late
Neither Bayern’s €67.5 million bid nor Barcelona’s historic charm was enough to convince Liverpool. And that says more about what the English club wants than about what these European giants are offering. Barça, as usual, came in with good intentions but lacked real financial power. Bayern’s approach was more solid, but still far from what would’ve made anyone at Anfield uncomfortable.
The truth is, both clubs were late. The time when he might have been seen as a negotiable asset is gone. Today, he’s treated as part of the plan, not as a bargaining chip. If you want to buy, be ready to pay his full market value, at the very least.
