Real Madrid wasted no time before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup and announced the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold to join the squad before the start of the competition, with coach Xabi Alonso gaining a major reinforcement during the month of May. However, Liverpool haven't wasted any time either and have already announced their replacement right-back.

Jeremie Frimpong has been confirmed as Liverpool's new player in a 35 million euro deal with Bayer Leverkusen, where he spent the last four seasons. In all, he made 190 appearances for the Bundesliga side, where he developed into one of the most promising players in his position in the current generation.

Frimpong has attacking characteristics capable of organizing play and starting attacking phases with great quality, as well as being a finisher. The full-back scored 30 goals and contributed 39 assists during his time with the Bundesliga side, adding the experience of having played in the youth ranks at Manchester City and a season and a half at Celtic.

Frimpong could also replace Salah at Liverpool in January

Naturally, everyone is treating Frimpong as Alexander-Arnold's direct replacement, leaving Liverpool very competitive in defense ahead of next season. However, it's very important to note that the full-back can also play a center-forward role and end up replacing Salah during a very crucial moment next season.

As if the decisive games of the teams thinking about qualifying for the FIFA Club World Cup weren't enough, Liverpool will also be without Mohamed Salah for the month of January because of the African Cup of Nations.

With the confidence of Arne Slot and fellow Dutch internationals such as Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk, Frimpong will fit in very well with the Liverpool squad from next Premier League defense title season in September.
