Not just led Liverpool into winning their 20th English title, Mohammed Salah dominated, controlled, broke records, and today engraves his name, for a second time, as Premier League Player of the Season. 32-year-old Egyptian forward Salah continues to defy time and legends. Over the weekend, he was made Player of the Season for 2024/25 by the ruling league.

The choice comes as no shock to anyone who followed Reds' season. Salah was the heart and brains of a team that topped the Premier League four rounds from completion. He finished the competition having scored 28 times and made 18 assistances from 37 outings, statistics that put his season up among the best in recent times in the league.

Salah is part of an exceptionally exclusive list in winning this award. There are just four others who have been adjudged Premier League best player more than once: Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidic, and Kevin De Bruyne. Salah received the award in 2017/18. Seven years on, he again tops a competition considered the world's toughest.

Leader in all

As well as being Player of the Season, Salah heads both the Premier League 2024/25 top scorer and assist table. Salah is five goals clear of Newcastle's Alexander Isak and six assists clear of Jacob Murphy. Salah will be the first player in history to claim all three major Premier League honours in a single season when he has just one round of fixtures remaining.

It is nearly unmatched and shows how he could be deadly and magnanimous at the same time.

Extraordinary numbers

Overall, Salah completes the season with 36 goals and 24 assists from 56 appearances for country and club. His 28 Premier League goals leave him top of the scoring list. His 18 assists fall just two short of competition record for a 38-game season, which is held between Henry and De Bruyne.

If we factor in the veteran 42-round seasons as well, then Salah is just one direct goal involvement away from Alan Shearer and Andy Cole's season record of 47. The Egyptian has already accounted for 46 as it is currently. In case he gets involved in one goal in the final round, he will match it, whereas two goals will bring him past it.

Shattered tales, frayed records

The 2024/25 campaign wasn't a solitary all-time great season from Salah. The season was a series of personal landmarks. The frontman moved into third in Liverpool's all-time top-scoring list, up to 244 goals. In the Premier League, he went from 11th to 5th all-time, reaching 185 goals and passing such as Sergio Agüero while now just behind Shearer, Kane, Rooney, and Andy Cole. He also became the record foreign player with the most league goals ever, surpassing Agüero's 184. He now stands fourth in the all-time combined goals and assists list.
