Manchester City are unbeaten in four meetings with Borussia Dortmund, winning three of them, their sole defeat coming at Westfalenstadion in December 2012.

Overall, the Sky Blues are unbeaten in eight meetings with Bundesliga outfits, as well as winning each of the last 12 played at the Etihad. Die Schwarzgelben have won only one of their last seven away games in England.

Manchester City vs Borussia Dortmund preview

Are Manchester City starting to rediscover their best form? On Sunday, the Sky Blues swatted aside Bournemouth 3-1 at the Etihad, with Erling Braut Håland, who else, bagging a first half double, before Nico O'Reilly lashed home a clinching third. This means Pep Guardiola's team have won four of their last six Premier League games, including four in a row at home, thereby climbing back up to second, six points adrift leaders Arsenal, ahead of Sunday's huge clash with champions Liverpool.

Meantime, in the Champions League, the Citizens finished 22nd in last season's league phase with only 11 points, but victory here would take their tally up to ten at the half way mark. A fortnight ago, first half goals from Håland and then Bernardo Silva saw them defeat Villarreal 2-0 at Estadio de la Cerámica. This followed on from a 2-0 victory over Inter at home, as well as a frustrating 2-2 draw with Monaco in the Principality. With games against Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid, Bodø/Glimt and Galatasaray still to come, they'll feel three points are imperative if they're to secure a top eight spot.

As for Borussia Dortmund, they too are unbeaten in this season's Champions League, also having collected seven points, but this will be their toughest test to date. In their opener, die Schwarzgelben were 4-2 up in Turin, only to concede in both the 94th and 96th minutes, thereby held to a 4-4 draw by Juventus. Since, Niko Kovač's side have enjoyed back-to-back victories over Athletic Club and København, scoring four times in both, with Felix Nmecha bagging a brace at Parken last month.

In the Bundesliga meantime, Dortmund were last in action on Friday night, when Serhou Guirassy was the only scorer against Augsburg on Halloween. This leaves them third in the table, their sole defeat coming last month against run-away leaders Bayern Munich, narrowly beaten 2-1 in Bavaria. So, Dortmund will be no push-overs, but Man City are certainly favourites at the Etihad.

Manchester City's treatment room is starting to empty, given that Rayan Aït-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Omar Marmoush have all returned to action in recent matches, as did Rodri, coming off the bench for a brief cameo against Bournemouth.
