Manchester City are preparing to say goodbye soon to goalkeeper Ederson, who has been in Saudi Arabia's sights for the last few years. However, the Citzens have made a move that was not expected by the fans by turning to a Chelsea goalkeeper to increase their number of options for the 2025/26 season.

In a bold move in the market, Manchester City have signed Marcus Bettineli, the 33-year-old Chelsea goalkeeper who had a successful spell at Fulham. The announcement comes shortly after the departure of Scott Carson, who is set to leave the Citzens at the end of the month after a fairly low-key spell.

Bettineli is the third confirmed signing for Manchester City in the current transfer window, as left-back Rayan Air-Nouri, from Wolves, for £31 million, was the first signing, and Ryan Cherki, from Lyon, was the second. With this, coach Pep Guardiola is gaining new options in the squad and could even try out some of his new additions during the Club World Cup.

It's worth noting that Bettinelli still had a year left on his contract with Chelsea, but the goalkeeper decided to end his spell after playing just one game for the Blues. The latest reports indicate that the goalkeeper should be part of the delegation that will travel to the United States in search of another title.

While some players have been confirmed as new additions to Pep Guardiola's squad, Manchester City are preparing to see one of their main technical references in recent years join Napoli. All indications are that Kevin De Bruyne will soon join the Italian champions, with negotiations resuming after European World Cup qualifiers.

Some rumors have even suggested that Kevin De Bruyne could play in the Club World Cup in the United States, but this is not even close to being a reality, considering that City have already said goodbye to the midfielder and Napoli will not be playing in the FIFA tournament.
